Compiler Aida Boyer McAnn Flemming (1896-1994) was awarded the Order of Canada in 1978. She received an Honorary L.L.D. from Mount Allison University in 1958, and in 1962 was voted Atlantic Woman of the Year. She became known for her charitable work, in particular for children. She graduated with a B.A. in English from Mount Allison, a Certificate in Education from the University of Toronto, and an M.A. in English from Columbia University in New York. At the time the cookbook was published she was directing The Cooking School of the Air on CHSJ radio each weekday morning. In 1946 she married Hugh John Flemming, premier of New Brunswick from 1962 to 1972.
Sarah Stewart Hart (Mrs. Edward R.K. Hart) (1880-1981), illustrated the cookbook throughout with humorous pencil drawings. She taught fine art and craft at Mount Allison for fifty years, gave private art lessons, and during WWII taught hospitalized RCAF men in various handcrafts.
