CANADIAN COOKBOOKS ONLINE

Canadian Cookbooks Online is a virtual collection of historic Canadian cookbooks that help document the rich and delicious history of Canada’s foods and peoples.

Taste the cuisine of a simpler age, learn to cook as early Canadians did.

Digitization is provided by donations from generous food history enthusiasts. If you know of an historic cookbook that should be in this online collection (preferably copyright-free), let us know. And if you or your group would like to sponsor a cookbook, we would be delighted to help you choose one that suits your fancy, tastes, and locale.

Please note that the ingredients, methods and cooking times listed in the cookbooks digitized here are consistent with the kitchen appliances and techniques that were in use in the period of their publication. Modern equipment and supplies may produce different results that are inconsistent with contemporary food safety theories and practices. The Culinary Historians of Canada disclaim any liability in connection with the use of this information, especially for preserving food.
